BIOGRAPHY

José A. Morais, MD, FRCPC, CSPQ
Dr. Morais graduated in medicine from the Université de Montréal in 1987, then completed his Internal Medicine residency at Royal Victoria Hospital and his Fellowship in Geriatrics in the Montreal hospitals of the Réseau québécois de Gériatrie Following his clinical training, he held a Research Fellowship from 1993-1996 in nutrition and metabolism under the supervision of Dr. Errol B. Marliss at the McGill Nutrition & Food Science Centre, where he remains to this day. He is currently Assistant Professor of Medicine at McGill University and the FRSQ Senior Clinical Research Scholar.

His research interests relate to the assessment of protein metabolism and requirements with age and instances of insulin resistance using stable isotope methods. He also participates in several CIHR-funded studies involving the assessment of factors affecting nutrition and cancer cachexia in elderly persons with the aim of improving their nutritional status and level of physical function.
